South Bend Cubs Secure Narrow Victory Over Quad Cities, 4-3

MESA, AZ - The South Bend Cubs triumphed over the Quad Cities River Bandits with a tight 4-3 victory on Tuesday. This win comes amid a busy schedule for the Cubs' minor league affiliates, showcasing the developments within their player roster.

Kevin Valdez took the mound for South Bend, delivering a strong performance by allowing just one run over five innings, with six hits against him. The lone run he surrendered was a solo home run in the fourth inning. Valdez struck out five batters while walking one. Grayson Moore closed the game, earning a save despite allowing a walk in the ninth; he managed to strike out two batters.

All of South Bend's runs were scored in a powerful first inning, highlighted by a two-run single from left fielder Jose Escobar, who finished the game 1 for 4. Center fielder Josiah Hartshorn also contributed, going 1 for 3 with a walk and scoring a run.
