Southern Miss baseball is No. 9 seed in NCAA Tournament, Hattiesburg Regional set

Southern Miss baseball is hosting a regional for the second season in a row.

The No. 1 seed Golden Eagles will host No. 2 seed Virginia, No. 3 seed Jacksonville State and No. 4 seed Little Rock in the Hattiesburg Regional, matching up against Little Rock on May 29 (1 p.m. CT, ESPN+) at Pete Taylor Park.

Southern Miss is the No. 9 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Hattiesburg Regional is paired with the Gainesville Regional.

Regional tournaments will take place May 29-June 1. The super regional will run June 5-8. The College World Series at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, starts on June 12.

This is the first time in program history that Southern Miss has hosted regionals in consecutive seasons. In 2025, The No. 1 seed Golden Eagles failed to advance in 2025 after losing its first game to No. 4 seed Columbia. No. 3 seed Miami advanced to play Louisville in the super regionals.

Southern Miss also hosted a regional in 2022, 2017 and 2003, only making it through to the super regionals in 2022.

The Golden Eagles have made the NCAA Tournament every season since 2016. This is 10th straight season the team has won 40 or more games.
