Susquehanna Valley and Maine-Endwell Secure Spots in NYSPHSAA Final Four

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The 2026 New York Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) softball tournament has seen Susquehanna Valley (21-3) and Maine-Endwell (19-5) advance to the state semifinals, following impressive wins against Alden (16-2) and Depew (16-6), respectively, at Gates-Chili High School on June 6.

The contest between Susquehanna Valley and Alden was a high-scoring affair, with the Sabers racking up 23 hits compared to the Bulldogs’ 13. Rianne Moelder led the charge for Susquehanna Valley, contributing four runs, four hits, and two RBIs, while Danica LaBarre showcased her power by hitting three home runs and driving in five runs. Despite a strong effort from Alden, which managed to close the gap to 13-11 in the sixth inning, the Sabers erupted for eight runs in a single inning, fueled by homers from both LaBarre and Moelder.

As Susquehanna Valley approaches their Final Four bout against Chatham (Section 2), the team is aware that their last semifinal experience dates back to 2018. However, they possess a formidable lineup, averaging 30 plate appearances and 10 hits per game this season, making them a challenging opponent for any team.

Maine-Endwell also displayed their prowess, with senior Isabel Hunter leading the team with three runs, four RBIs, and two hits, including a home run that helped secure a 5-0 lead by the second inning. Veteran players Kaylee Hurba and Tessa L’Amoreaux contributed significantly, each recording two runs, two hits, and one RBI. Freshman Harper Eagan and sophomore Olivia Virgil also played crucial roles, ensuring the Spartans maintained their lead against Depew.

This marks Maine-Endwell’s second consecutive trip to the state Final Four, where they aim to overcome last year’s 4-0 defeat to Miller Place. The Spartans will square off against Section 2’s Averill Park (20-4) at 10 a.m. in the Class A regional final, while Susquehanna Valley faces off against Chatham (22-2) at 4 p.m. Both matches will take place at Greenlight Grandslam Park in Binghamton on June 12. Additionally, Windham-Ashland-Jewett and Deposit-Hancock, the other Section 4 teams remaining in the tournament, will compete at 11:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the Class D and Class C regional finals, respectively.
