Tchouameni Addresses Valverde Incident, Refutes Claims of Assault

Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has spoken publicly about the recent incident with teammate Fede Valverde at the club's Valdebebas training facility. Following the altercation, Valverde was hospitalized to receive stitches for a head injury, and both players were penalized with fines of €500,000 due to their misconduct.

In a recent statement upon joining the Uruguay national team ahead of the World Cup, Valverde characterized the experience as an opportunity for personal growth, although he initially refrained from discussing the specifics of the incident. He denied having been punched by Tchouameni and referred to the event as a chance to "grow and mature."

Responding to the situation, Tchouameni clarified that he did not strike Valverde. “Obviously, things happened, you could see and hear it in the media. It was blown out of proportion because it was in the news, and when you play for Real Madrid, that creates a huge reaction. A lot of nonsense was said in the press. I read that there was a fight and that I had punched him… Which wasn’t the case. I won’t go into more detail,” he stated, as reported by Diario AS.

Tchouameni emphasized the importance of focusing on their shared objective of winning titles for Real Madrid, insisting that there are no lingering issues between him and Valverde. He added, “Life goes on. Fede and I have a common goal: to win titles with Real Madrid. There are no problems. And if I face him in the World Cup, we’ll be eager to win with the French national team.”

Despite the severe fines imposed on the players, Real Madrid appeared more concerned about the incident being leaked to the media rather than the altercation itself. Former manager Alvaro Arbeloa remarked that it was disheartening for the club that someone disclosed the matter publicly, while President Florentino Perez indicated that the individual responsible for the leak would face consequences, asserting that “players fight every year,” suggesting that such conflicts are not uncommon within the team.
