Teoscar Hernández Placed on Injured List, Expected to Miss a Month Due to Hamstring Strain

Teoscar Hernández has officially been placed on the 10-day injured list after sustaining a hamstring strain, as confirmed by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday. The outfielder revealed to reporters on Saturday that he anticipates being sidelined for roughly a month due to a Grade 1 strain of his left hamstring. While the injury is considered mild, Hernández emphasized the importance of a careful recovery to avoid any potential long-term issues.

The 33-year-old athlete sustained the injury during Wednesday’s game against the Colorado Rockies, specifically while sprinting to first base on a ground ball. As he reached the bag, Hernández felt discomfort and immediately grasped the back of his left leg. His distress was evident upon returning to the dugout; he expressed frustration by slamming his helmet multiple times before exiting toward the tunnel.

Hernández's performance this season has seen him batting .276 with seven home runs and 31 RBIs over 51 games. Last year, he dealt with a left groin injury that kept him out for two weeks and continued to affect him afterwards, leading to his lowest batting average in six seasons at .247. "Once he gets going, we're hoping it'll be a quick return, and we'll try to get him some rehab at-bats," said Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes, highlighting the team's cautious approach this time around.

In light of Hernández's absence, the Dodgers have called up Ryan Ward from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Ward, who ranks as the 19th prospect in the Dodgers' organization according to MLB.com, has recorded a .254 batting average with six home runs and 31 RBIs this season. In his brief stint with the Dodgers earlier this season, he managed to go 2-for-6 with one RBI in two games.
