Texas A&M and USC Set for Regional Final Face-Off
The College Station Regional has unfolded nearly as anticipated, culminating in a showdown between Texas A&M and USC this Sunday night, with a coveted Super Regional spot at stake.
Texas A&M has advanced to the final with relative ease, securing a 2–0 record after defeating Lamar and Texas State. In contrast, USC's journey has been marked by more challenges. After losing their first game to Texas State, the Trojans battled back from the losers' bracket, eliminating Lamar before narrowly overcoming Texas State in a rematch.
USC initially surged to an 8–0 lead in that game, only for Texas State to rally with a four-run fourth inning, tightening the contest. However, the Trojans managed to regain control in the later innings, setting up a situation where they must win twice on Sunday to advance, while the Aggies need only one victory.
In a significant development for Texas A&M, head coach Michael Earley announced that star pitcher Aiden Sims will be sidelined for the rest of the postseason due to a re-aggravated injury. Earley emphasized that further attempts to play Sims could jeopardize his long-term health, leaving the Aggies in search of a new ace for this critical game.
The first pitch is set for approximately 8 p.m. CT, with the match available for streaming on ESPN+. For ongoing updates about Texas A&M, follow @AggiesWire on X (formerly Twitter) and like our page on Facebook. You can also keep up with Jarrett Johnson on X at @whosnextsports1.
