Towns Shines as Knicks Rally to Take Halftime Lead Over Spurs

The New York Knicks staged a remarkable comeback, turning a 16-point deficit into a 55-52 advantage at halftime against the San Antonio Spurs during Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Friday night. The Knicks’ impressive performance in the second quarter showcased the talents of Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges, who were pivotal in shifting the game's momentum.

Towns was a dominant force throughout the first half, contributing 17 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. His ability to attack both inside and outside put significant pressure on the Spurs' defense. A standout moment came late in the half when he delivered a precise assist to Bridges, who finished with a layup that propelled New York into the lead.

Bridges, who had a slow start, found his rhythm in the second quarter, scoring all 11 of his points during that period. He showcased his shooting skills with several three-pointers and played exceptional defense, including critical stops against De’Aaron Fox, which helped solidify the Knicks' comeback.

In contrast, San Antonio started strong, with Fox and Devin Vassell leading the charge. Fox rebounded from a difficult Game 1, scoring 12 points in the first half, while Vassell chipped in with 11 points, three rebounds, and three assists. However, the Spurs struggled to leverage the presence of Victor Wembanyama, who managed only seven points on four shot attempts and five rebounds. TNT analyst Charles Barkley remarked that Wembanyama appeared "flustered" by Towns' aggressive play.

Statistically, the Knicks outperformed the Spurs in shooting, hitting 40% of their three-point attempts compared to San Antonio's 33.3%. With the momentum clearly in their favor, New York heads into the second half poised to take a commanding 2-0 series lead.
