UFC Champion Sean Strickland Criticizes Trump and Israel After Being Denied Access to White House Event

Sean Strickland, the reigning middleweight champion of the UFC, expressed his discontent after learning he would not be allowed to attend the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House. Strickland, known for his outspoken nature, previously indicated he had no interest in the June 14 gathering, citing a reluctance to associate with those involved in controversial matters, which he referred to as the "f*cking Epstein list."

On Wednesday, after seeing a promotional post for a bout between Ciryl Gane and Alex Pereira on Instagram, Strickland shared that he had been "banned" from the White House event. In a response, he wrote, "UFC at the white house with BB in the audience. Straight (Israel flag emoji) slop." He elaborated, "To be fair they did ban me... But when you make fun of the leaders of America they tend to be a little petty lol by leaders I mean Israel."

Following the online backlash, Strickland took to social media to elaborate on his frustrations in a video posted on X (formerly Twitter). In a sarcastic tone, he addressed US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying, "Well, you guys, I'm not surprised, but I got the call." He recounted how UFC executives informed him he was "not Israeli enough" to participate in UFC 250, emphasizing his disillusionment with the political landscape.

Strickland continued his critique, stating, "I'd like to apologize to Trump. I just want to prove that I'm Israeli enough for you guys," and lamented the costs of military engagements that he believes are unjust. His comments drew attention from former Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who praised Strickland for his stance, claiming he was being persecuted for exercising his First Amendment rights.

Despite being barred from the official event, Strickland hinted at a potential protest, stating he might still attend the gathering to voice his dissatisfaction. "Apparently, I'm not American enough to go to Freedom 250, but I still got my ticket," he declared. He concluded with a commitment to make his presence felt, suggesting he would bring a bullhorn to communicate his message outside the venue.
