Utah to Part Ways with Under Armour After 2026-27 Season

The University of Utah has announced it will conclude its apparel partnership with Under Armour after the current contract ends, which spans through the 2026-27 athletic season. This decision marks the end of an 18-year relationship that began in the 2008 season, with the university set to unveil a new logo on their uniforms starting in 2027.

Ben Portnoy from Front Office Sports was the first to report this development on Monday evening. An Under Armour representative stated, “Under Armour remains deeply committed to supporting student-athletes through its robust collegiate athletics program. While we have agreed to conclude our partnership with the University of Utah, we are proud of the support and resources we’ve provided their student-athletes, coaches and fans over the years. We look forward to completing a strong final year with the Utes.”

Utah's football team first donned Under Armour gear during a successful 2008 season, where they achieved a perfect 13-0 record and triumphed over Alabama at the Sugar Bowl. The entire athletic department later transitioned to Under Armour in the 2011-12 season following a school-wide agreement.

The partnership witnessed significant growth, including a lucrative 10-year extension worth $65 million. A spokesperson for Utah Athletics expressed gratitude for the support received from Under Armour, stating, “The University of Utah greatly appreciates its 18-year partnership with Under Armour, and has immense gratitude for the many benefits it has provided to our student-athletes.”

Before aligning with Under Armour, Utah’s football program had a longstanding relationship with Nike since at least 2000, while the men’s basketball team was outfitted by Adidas beginning in 2007.
