Video: Alex Pereira throws ceremonial first pitch strike at Yankee Stadium

Alex Pereira’s striking expertise extends beyond the cage, apparently.

“Poatan” had the honor of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at Yankee Stadium ahead of the New York Yankees vs. Texas Rangers game on Tuesday. And unlike countless celebrities before him, Pereira threw a strike right down the pipe.

Might have just caught the edge of the zone, but Yankees catcher J.C. Escarra approved, nodding and giving Pereira an enthusiastic thumbs up.

Pereira’s opening toss might have brought luck to the home team as the Yankees went on to beat the Rangers 7-4.

It’s all fun and games for Pereira right now, but he has a huge test ahead of him as he is a little over a month away from fighting at UFC White House with a chance to become the promotion’s first-ever three-division titleholder. After previously winning gold at middleweight and light heavyweight, Pereira makes a highly anticipated move up to heavyweight to fight Ciryl Gane for an interim belt on the historic June 14 card with the winner setting up a massive matchup with undisputed champion Tom Aspinall.
