Washington football picks up crystal ball to land rising 4-star safety
After the Washington Huskies secured one of their top targets in the secondary in four-star safety Isala Aisa Wily-Ava, Jedd Fisch's coaching staff received a crystal ball to reel in another blue-chip on the back end.
On Friday afternoon, Rivals' Adam Gorney and Greg Biggins both logged predictions for the Huskies to reel in four-star Jaden Walk-Green from Corona Centennial High School in Southern California. Ranked as the No. 166 overall prospect and No. 14 safety in the 2027 class by Rivals, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound Walk-Green has experienced a major rise since the end of his junior season.
He holds 22 offers and has set four official visits, beginning with Oregon on May 29, before he heads to Washington on June 5, Arizona State on June 12, and finishes his busy summer with a trip to UCLA on June 19. However, if the crystal balls come to fruition and he announces a pledge to UW, he may not wind up making all of his visits.
During his junior year, in which he recorded 125 tackles and 10 interceptions, Walk-Green showed off all the makings of an ideal post safety in defensive coordinator Ryan Walters' scheme. He plays with great instincts, triggering quickly downhill to make an impact against the run, while he has the range and ball skills to make an impact in coverage.
He also displays tremendous physicality as a tackler, along with the versatility to move all over the back end of the defense from safety to nickel and outside cornerback, although his best fit appears to be as a true free safety with the ability to roam and make plays on the ball.
As the Huskies continue to look for reinforcements on the back end of the defense, Walk-Green would be an ideal addition at safety for position coach Taylor Mays in a class that currently ranks No. 11 in the nation by 247Sports.
