Yankees Update: Jasson Dominguez's Rehab Continues, Giancarlo Stanton Nears Return

As the New York Yankees prepare for their series opener against the Cleveland Guardians, manager Aaron Boone shared the latest developments regarding injured players Jasson Dominguez and Giancarlo Stanton. Both players are on the path to recovery, but their timelines remain uncertain.

Jasson Dominguez, who has been sidelined since May 7 due to a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder, is set to further his rehabilitation in Triple-A this week. Although the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders have a night off on Monday, Dominguez is expected to participate in games over the next two days, playing approximately four to five innings each time. Boone noted that the Yankees have yet to determine the exact number of games Dominguez will require before returning to the major league roster. In his initial two rehab appearances last week, the 23-year-old struggled, going hitless with three strikeouts in seven at-bats.

In contrast, Giancarlo Stanton appears to be making strides toward a comeback. While no precise timeline has been established for his return, Boone expressed optimism that Stanton might be back in action during the upcoming homestand. The Yankees will face the Guardians and Blue Jays before returning to New York to host the White Sox and Reds next week. Stanton has been working on his running and throwing regimen in New York, following his first two live batting practice sessions over the past week. The powerful slugger has missed 39 games in total after injuring his right calf while jogging to second base on a walk in late May.

Bringing both Stanton and Dominguez back into the lineup would significantly enhance the Yankees' offensive capabilities, especially with Aaron Judge expected to be out for an extended period.
