Despite annually producing record quarterly profits, WWE has continued its practice of resetting the books and releasing a set of talent every few months. It doesn't matter how recently someone was a featured act on television—outside of the upper echelon of superstars, everyone is at risk. Last month, Shotzi was one of the more surprising names the promotion decided to let go of, given her recent return from a long-term injury and her starting the "Chemical X" stable alongside Tatum Paxley and Gigi Dolin. On the heels of her re-debuting back on the independent circuit, Shotzi sat down with Ariel Helwani and suggested AEW would be her top choice if she returned to wrestling full-time—the IWC reacted accordingly.
She needs to go another route. Toni and Mercedes have that division locked up and Opsreay’s wife just signed and to cater to him she will get a massive push to the top. Proceed with caution.— Nard Jones™️ (@NardJones) June 10, 2025
This was an attempt to dissect how Shotzi could struggle in AEW's current loaded women's roster.
Yea she was never meant for the big leagues…indie wrestler through and through— popcrnshower (@popcrnshower) June 10, 2025
Other fans were less constructive, suggesting Shotzi is better suited for the indie scene.
Shotzi would fit in well there they love the hardcore style— Neal☆Pretty Boy☆Thomas (@TheRKPodcast) June 10, 2025
There was a consistent sentiment that perhaps her gory and violent approach could be a better fit for AEW programming.
You trashed them in 2021.. pic.twitter.com/URshPuKSXF— Flip💪🏾🇯🇲🇯🇲 (@Flip_3xx) June 10, 2025
A few brought up a dig Shotzi took at Chris Jericho for an embarrassing bump he took during a "Blood and Guts," match.
Y'all really focused on someone else's career. AEW was created to be an alternative destination opposed to one corporate choice.
I may not be a great fan for AEW yet that doesn't dismiss the outlet for talent and for fans. Everyone has their own preferences— Raz (@_Razalian_) June 10, 2025
At the end of the day, Shotzi can desire to work at any place she chooses.
Shotzi is a solid worker in the ring who clearly takes gothic and punk inspirations to craft her aesthetic and character, which is unique enough in 2025 to stand out. If she can work on her promo delivery and refine her personality, she'll have plenty of higher employment options in the future.
