Xavier Griffin is one of the highest ranked prospects in the 2026 recruiting window, and is ranked as the No. 2 linebacker in the class.

An all-around terrific athlete played basketball as well in high school, and was named an All-Region selection in his sophomore season.

The Gainesville, Georgia product was originally committed to the USC Trojans, however announced his decommitment on May 14, opening the window for other teams to swoop in with offers.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are one of those schools, who had a visit with him on June 6, just a few weeks after he decommitted.

Since his decision to decommit from the Trojans, Alabama has emerged as a top landing spot for Griffin, and can add to an already incredible recruiting class that is currently in the top 10.

USC's No. 1 recruiting class with 28 recruits may have found it's first big casualty, as sometimes that many recruits can cause discomfort in how much these young men may actually play early on.

Alabama's 2026 class as it stands is ranked No. 8 in the country, and No. 4 in the SEC behind the LSU Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, and Texas A&M Aggies.

Their class consists of just six commits, with four coming on the defensive side of the ball. Two cornerbacks, an edge rusher and defensive lineman round out the unit, and Griffin would spot in as the only, most likely the best, linebacker in the Tide's class.

Head coach Kalen DeBoer has the opportunity to take a top prospect that may not be as available this often, and would further add to the championship pedigree that DeBoer is trying to maintain at Alabama.
