Georgia Tech to Host Mississippi State in 2025 ACC/SEC Challenge Showdown

The 2025 ACC/SEC Men’s Challenge matchups have been revealed, and Georgia Tech will once again face Mississippi State, this time at home in McCamish Pavilion on Wednesday, Dec. 3. The Yellow Jackets look to build on their 2023 win over the Bulldogs, where they prevailed 67-59. Georgia Tech currently leads the all-time series 17-13 and holds a 7-5 advantage in Atlanta.
Head coach Damon Stoudamire enters his third season with an experienced and reloaded roster. Tech returns standout junior forward Baye Ndongo, a third-team All-ACC selection who led the conference’s returning big men in scoring (13.4 PPG), rebounding (8.9 RPG), and shooting (53.6%). Kowacie Reeves Jr. and Jaeden Mustaf also return, and the Jackets have added four transfers and six freshmen, including a top-15 national recruiting class.
Despite the talent, CBS Sports’ David Cobb has predicted Mississippi State to win the matchup, citing their veteran core and star guard Josh Hubbard. "Star guard Josh Hubbard is the headliner of a transfer-heavy Mississippi State team,” said Cobb.
“Georgia Tech counters with all-ACC big man Baye Ndongo. The Bulldogs punch back up front with veteran shot blocker Quincy Ballard from Wichita State. This one is close, but betting against a star veteran guard like Hubbard is never wise. Pick: Mississippi State"
Georgia Tech faces questions at point guard, but the mix of proven talent and top-tier recruits gives them a strong foundation. This game offers a key early test as Stoudamire continues to reshape the program into a contender in the ACC.
