LSU head coach Jay Johnson provides update on outfielder in the transfer portal before CWS

The College World Series hasn’t even begun but the college baseball transfer portal has been open for over a week. We hear about it all the time in college football — the calendar isn’t ideal. A similar sentiment could be said for baseball’s calendar.
A handful of LSU baseball players have announced their intention to transfer as LSU prepares for the College World Series. One of those names is outfielder Mic Paul.
On Tuesday, LSU head coach Jay Johnson offered an update on Paul’s status.
Johnson said Paul will remain with the team and travel to Omaha, but he won’t be on the Tigers’ 27-man roster. Johnson took time to praise Paul and said, “He’s everything right about this program.”
Paul is a redshirt sophomore from Salt Lake City, Utah. The outfielder was a member of LSU’s national title team in 2023 but missed all of 2024 with an injury.
“Mic Paul is going to travel with us but he will not be on the 27-man college World Series roster…he’s everything right about this program”
