Magic Looking to Poach Suns' 6-foot-1 Guard in Free Agency: Report
Magic Looking to Poach Suns' 6-foot-1 Guard in Free Agency: Report originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The NBA offseason sees veteran guard Chris Paul weighing his next destination, with both the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers showing significant interest.
According to NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer, Phoenix could rekindle ties with Paul if they lose point guard Tyus Jones in free agency, banking on Paul’s familiarity with the town and his NBA Finals pedigree.
Los Angeles remains a prime option as well. Paul reportedly prefers to stay close to his family, and the Clippers are “weighing” a reunion, as he spent six impactful seasons with the franchise.
However, Orlando Magic's interest in Jones makes Phoenix the more suitable destination for Paul.
"Sources say that the Orlando Magic are among the teams to express interest in Jones, who played alongside new Magic marquee acquisition Desmond Bane for three seasons in Memphis." The Stein Line reported on Sunday.
"Bane posted on Twitter in April 2024 that 'doors [are] always open' for a reunification with Jones."
Paul turned 40 in May and logged a full 82-game season in San Antonio. Paul’s desire to stay near Los Angeles may favor Western Conference suitors like the Suns or Clippers.
"The Los Angeles Clippers, in addition to Phoenix, are another of Paul's former teams that is said to be weighing a second engagement with the 12-time NBA All-Star, who turned 40 in May," The Stein Line added.
"Paul's family stayed in Los Angeles this season while Dad played in South Texas."

Orlando, bolstered by dynamic wing Desmond Bane, could benefit from a point guard of Jones’ caliber.
