PFF: Jets DT Quinnen Williams must be better in 2025

New York Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams did not reach his performance ceiling in 2025. One of the game's premier three-techs, Williams wasn't his usual dominant self. The former Alabama standout recorded just 37 tackles, compared to 62 the year prior. It was his lowest tackles output since his rookie 2019 season, which was limited to 13 games.

Pro Football Focus recently compiled a list of 10 players with something to prove in 2025. Unsurprisingly, Williams made the list.

"Many players on the Jets' defense will want to prove that the 2024 season was just a fluke," Zoltán Buday wrote. "The unit, which was considered to be one of the best defenses in the league in previous seasons, if not the best, significantly underperformed. Williams was no exception. Across 2022 and 2023, he earned a 91.5 PFF overall grade, which ranked fourth in the NFL over that period, behind only Dexter Lawrence, Chris Jones and Aaron Donald. In 2024, his 69.6 PFF overall grade ranked only 28th among interior defenders. While he won 19.1% of his pass-rush snaps in 2023, his clip dipped to 14.2% in 2024."

Williams did produce six sacks, but as noted, his pass-rush-win-rate dipped significantly. He recorded 54 pressures versus 70 in 2023. Williams wasn't as effective or disruptive in opposing backfields.

There's legitimate reason to believe Williams will recapture his typical form in 2025. He's now playing for an excellent defensive-minded head coach in Aaron Glenn who understands how to maximize his talents. Williams is a bounce-back candidate.
