Steelers now set to rely on former Browns bust Juan Thornhill

After the Pittsburgh Steelerstraded Minkah Fitzpatrick back to the Miami Dolphins, they must now turn to former Cleveland Browns free agency bust Juan Thornhill.

Thornhill, who played two sorry seasons in Cleveland after signing in free agency from the Kansas City Chiefs, inked a one-year deal with the Steelers for the veteran minimum this past offseason. Now, after trading away Minkah Fitzpatrick back to the Miami Dolphins in a deal that landed them tight end Jonnu Smith and cornerback Jalen Ramsey, the Steelers will rely heavily on Thornhill.

There is reason to question whether or not that was the role the Steelers had initially intended Thornhill to have when they signed him to a minimum contract. However, the only other safeties besides the established DeShon Elliott on Pittsburgh's roster are Miles Killebrew, Quindell Johnson, and Sebastian Castro.

Thornhill battled an ongoing calf injury during his time in Cleveland, but wore out his welcome more on social media than he did on the field. That has been a continued aspect of the player's relationship with the Browns since departing Northeast Ohio as well.

We'll see how that one works for the Steelers.
