Alabama Football’s Ty Simpson: “I’m a Franchise Quarterback.”
There are confident answers.
And then there are franchise answers.
Former Ty Simpson gave the latter this week when he spoke about his time at Alabama Crimson Tide and why he believes he’s ready for the NFL.
“I just told ‘em, like, Alabama is the best place to get you prepared for the NFL, I fully believe that,” Simpson said Friday. “I think with coach Saban’s infrastructure that he implemented there, and then coach (Kalen) DeBoer coming in and keeping that same structure is super real and prepares you for the NFL better than most colleges.”
That’s not hype.
That’s perspective from someone who lived it for four years.
Simpson didn’t just play quarterback at Alabama.
He was developed there.
He learned under Nick Saban and then transitioned seamlessly into the new era under Kalen DeBoer, and he says the standard never slipped.
“With all the coordinators that I had before, I run an NFL-type system,” Simpson explained. “It definitely prepared me for saying those long play calls, saying those checks, making sure that I get us in the right protection.”
That’s the part people sometimes overlook.
It’s not just arm strength.
It’s not just athleticism.
It’s command.
“I had command of the offense, had command of the line of scrimmage,” Simpson said. “I think that’s what helped us a lot, getting us in the right play call, getting us in the right check, getting us in the right protection.”
That’s NFL language.
That’s pre-snap ownership.
That’s what separates guys who can play quarterback from guys who can lead a franchise.
And if anyone wonders whether he’s been tested, just look at who he practiced against.
“Learning from the No. 1 overall pick and Heisman Trophy winner,” Simpson said, referencing Bryce Young. “Going on defense, going on scout team, I got Will Anderson, Dallas Turner, Henry To’oTo’o, I got Kool-Aid on one side, I got Terrion on the other side… there’s a number of first and second-round draft picks that I went against and who I was in the locker room with.”
He wasn’t exaggerating.
Simpson sharpened his game daily against future NFL talent like Will Anderson Jr., Dallas Turner, Henry To'oTo'o, Kool-Aid McKinstry, and Terrion Arnold.
“The Alabama locker room was as close as a locker room in the NFL as you can get,” he said.
That matters.
After four seasons in Tuscaloosa... learning, waiting, competing, leading, Simpson believes the next step is here.
“I feel like I’m ready,” he said. “I’m a franchise quarterback.”
That’s not arrogance.
That’s belief built on preparation.
Alabama built him in an NFL mold.
Now it’s time to see which franchise believes it too.
