BREAKING: West Bengal STF Arrests Two Bangladeshi Nationals Linked to Political Murder

West Bengal Police's Special Task Force (STF) has arrested two Bangladeshi nationals near the Bongaon border area for illegal entry and stay in India — both connected to the murder of political activist Sharif Osman Hadi in Bangladesh.
The Suspects
The two men arrested are:
- Rahul alias Faisal Karim Masud, 37, a resident of Patuakhali, Bangladesh
- Alamgir Hossain, 34, a resident of Dhaka, Bangladesh
How It Happened
Acting on credible secret intelligence, STF conducted a raid in the intervening night of March 7–8, 2026 in the Bongaon border area. The two suspects had fled Bangladesh after committing serious crimes including extortion and murder, entered India illegally through the Meghalaya border, and were attempting to cross back into Bangladesh when intercepted.
The Crime
During preliminary interrogation, it was revealed that Rahul alias Faisal Karim Masud, along with Alamgir Hossain, committed the murder of Osman Hadi — a political activist in Bangladesh — before fleeing the country.
Current Status
A case has been registered under STF WB HQs PS Case No. 09 of 2026. Both suspects have been sent to police custody and produced before the concerned court. Further investigation is ongoing.
