Arion Carter discusses post-football aspirations at SEC media days

Senior linebacker Arion Carter returns to Tennessee for his fourth season with the Vols in 2026. He represented Tennessee at SEC media days on Monday in Tampa, Florida.

The 6-foot-1, 238-pound linebacker discussed his post-football aspirations.

"I want to be an orthopedic surgeon," Carter said. "I'm a public health major. That's what I'm studying in my undergrad, but speaking on that topic I've made so many great relationships at the University of Tennessee. It's a blessing just to come back and have so much gratitude for that. Just to be a VFL, it is an honor, it is a privilege and it is a blessing.

"I take advantage of that opportunity and don't take it for granted every day of the week. With those opportunities, I met so many people. I've met so many professors and entrepreneurs that can help lead me in the right direction in that pathway after football."

Carter has appeared in 23 games, including 13 starts, at Tennessee from 2023-25.

The Smyrna, Tennessee native has recorded 161 tackles, 13.5 tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, one interception, 10 pass deflections, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
