Arizona Cardinals training camp roster preview: RB Bam Knight
The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team.
Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2025, questions they face and their roster outlook.
Here is running back Bam Knight.
Bam Knight background, 2025 season
Knight enters his fifth NFL season and his second with the Cardinals. He signed a futures deal in 2025 after spending the last few weeks of the 2024 season on the practice squad of the New York Jets. He earned a roster spot out of the preseason as the fourth running back on the roster, supplanting special teams ace DeeJay Dallas.
Because of injuries, he ended up starting eight games. He played in 12, starting eight and rushed for 269 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 3.3 yards per attempt. He also had 22 receptions for 160 yards and a touchdown and averaged 21.6 yards on 12 kick returns.
Bam Knight contract details, cap hit
He was a restricted free agent who went untendered, but he re-signed with the Cardinals on a one-year deal work nearly $1.2 million. He got a $25,000 signing bonus and workout bonus. He will make $1.15 million in salary and count almost $1.2 million against the salary cap if he makes the team.
Questions he faces, 2026 roster outlook
The biggest question for Knight is whether there is a spot on the roster for him now after James Conner and Trey Benson return from injury, Tyler Allgeier was added in free agency and Jeremiyah Love was drafted third overall.
He is firmly on the roster bubble. Perhaps he will again be the fourth running back and be part of the kickoff return team. But he definitely doesn't have a spot locked in on the 53-man roster.
