The Indiana Fever and Caitlin Clark might have defeated the Las Vegas Aces 109-75, but they had nothing on Aubrey Plaza. Clark and Co. were left floored by Plaza’s comedic timing in her collaboration with NBC. The Fever hosted a special guest at practice in New York before they faced the Aces this week, when the actress/comedian shot off a challenge to Caitlin Clark.

“I could play with these guys,” Plaza started in the NBC segment. “Yo, 22, I can take you.” Clark just smiled at the “Parks and Recreation” star. Then, Plaza took the court, imparting her knowledge to Lexie Hull and Caitlin Clark. When Clark and Plaza took the court, the actress had a challenge set for the point guard:

Plaza said, “Guard this…” as she dribbled in front of Clark.

Then it was Clark trying to score, but she could not hit her three-pointer over Plaza. And the comedian did not miss the opportunity. “Yo, brick. Do you have any more bricks? I was trying to make a brick house.”

Well, Clark is shooting 33.1% from the three-point line and a career-best 42.7% from the field. So she is not “bricking it” when it matters the most. In fact, despite back issues, she is averaging a career-high 20.1 points per game despite playing a career-low 29.6 minutes. And Aubrey Plaza knows how good Clark actually is.

Plaza was courtside at the 2024 All-Star Game when Caitlin Clark tied the second-most assists recorded in a WNBA All-Star Game and broke the rookie record for the same with a game-high ten assists right in front of the leader, Sue Bird. She also added four points and two steals in 26 minutes of floor time. And Aubrey did not miss recognizing this Fever squad even now as they continue to grow.

“I did a little research. Unfortunately, this team is pretty good. You’ve got Caitlin Clark with unlimited range, maybe with some cardio limitations,” Aubrey Plaza said in her scouting report. “Then there’s Aliyah Boston controlling the paint, and Sophie Cunningham, who’s somehow becoming an enforcer on the court and a meme.”

The Indiana Fever are certainly one of the most popular teams for celebrities to support in the WNBA. From Tyrese Haliburton to Wanda Sykes and Adam Levine, the Fever has hosted some stars from across industries. Plaza, however, is a longtime New York fan.

Plaza’s mock challenge fulfilled NBC’s intention. It gave fans another memorable Caitlin Clark cultural moment to share. As the Fever star’s popularity continues to rise, celebrity collaborations like this are becoming just as much a part of the conversation as the game itself.
