Chiefs News: Chiefs YouTube to share ‘bizarre’ basketball story
(Original Caption) 9/16/1969-Dallas, TX- No one has ever imposed on Lamar Hunt. At least that is what his friends say about the young multimillionaire who cracked the invincibility of the staid old National Football League with the founding of the American Football League. Hunt has vast oil and real estate holdings as well as the Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Tornado soccer club, Chicago Bulls basketball team, a minor league baseball team, and 14 tennis professionals.

The latest

The Kansas City Chiefs’ official YouTube channel will be telling the “bizarre story of an NFL basketball team” in a video that will premiere Wednesday evening, 7:00 p.m. Arrowhead time

“The Franchise,” a series published on the Chiefs’ YouTube channel, is always a great watch during the year. 65 Toss Power Trap Productions, the official in-house media production team, always does a great job telling the story of the Chiefs through video. It’s easy to imagine this being a fun watch!

The Lost Game: The Untold Story of the Kansas City Chiefs Basketball Team | YouTube

Premieres July 8 at 7:00 p.m. The Lost Game chronicles the story of a barnstorming basketball team created by Lamar Hunt for the Dallas Texans franchise as an initiative to promote the team in the offseason. What began as a marketing idea evolved into a four-decade-long traveling showcase that brought communities together and raised money for local causes. Facing a wide range of opponents and playing in front of crowds both large and small, these teams carved out a unique and enduring legacy.

Chiefs need to fill Travis Kelce’s old role. There isn’t an obvious candidate | The Athletic

To be completely fair to last year’s team … if we take only the first 14 games (when Mahomes was healthy), K.C. averaged 2.41 points per drive, which was ninth in the NFL.

The point remains: Even if the offense could be considered good, it was not at the elite level of previous seasons like 2022.

So, what was the biggest reason for that? It shouldn’t be a surprise, but explosive plays have been trending downward recently, with no significant rebound.

George Karlaftis has to rediscover his 2023 pass rush

The Chiefs are heading to the defensive side of the ball for the third name on this list. Kansas City has historically been a strong pass-rushing team during its dynasty run, but last season was a step backward. Getting consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks will be one of the most important factors in 2026, and Karlaftis is the player who can tip that scale.

Pre-Camp Breakdown: Looking at the Chiefs Tight Ends | The Mothership

Noah Gray

Gray enters his sixth season with Kansas City after catching 21 passes for 178 yards in 2025. It came on the heels of a 2024 campaign in which Gray set career-bests in catches (40), receiving yards (437) and receiving touchdowns (5).

The 27-year-old Gray also, once again, led all Chiefs offensive players with 125 special teams snaps.

Travis Kelce Is Still as Important as Ever to the 2026 Chiefs | Sports Illustrated

Why Travis Kelce Is So Important

Kelce is the Chiefs’ all-time leading receiver by a healthy margin and has an extremely strong argument as the second-most important player in franchise history, behind quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who has never known pro football without Kelce as his persistent running mate.

Kelce’s connection with Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid is well-documented, but it’s worth remembering at every turn. While many of Mahomes’ other pass catchers have come and gone during this generation of Chiefs football, Kelce has been the absolute constant.

2026 Fantasy Football Rankings: PPR top 100 | Pro Football Focus

15. RB Kenneth Walker, Kansas City Chiefs

Walker is one of the most efficient running backs in the NFL over the past three seasons, ranking second in PFF overall grade (93.2), but a crowded backfield in Seattle limited his fantasy value by splitting goal-line work and passing game opportunities with Zach Charbonnet. The Chiefs present a much cleaner path, with Isiah Pacheco gone and Kareem Hunt unsigned, and while Kansas City’s pass-heavy tendencies cap his rushing ceiling, the team’s history of targeting running backs and Walker’s own receiving ability give him a realistic shot at a top-five finish if his role in the passing game expands.

31. WR Rashee Rice, Kansas City Chiefs

Rice was one of the most productive wide receivers per game last season at 18.8 PPR points, but he played just eight games, and his short-area role may be due for a change under Eric Bieniemy, whose offenses have historically featured receivers with much deeper target profiles. The off-field situation compounds the uncertainty, as Rice is rehabbing from a knee surgery while serving a jail sentence, has ended each of the last two seasons on injured reserve, and carries additional off-field concerns that make him difficult to trust even at an ADP that already accounts for some of the risk.

Late Cowboys player Marshawn Kneeland diagnosed with CTE | ESPN

Former Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland was posthumously diagnosed with Stage 1 chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

Brian Schottenheimer had an ‘agreement’ to remain with Cowboys if not hired as HC | NFL.com

“So, what we did is while they were going through the process — ’cause there’s a process, right? I wasn’t sure, and there was a number of other teams — saying this very humbly — that were courting me and trying to say, ‘Hey, we want you to come be our coordinator,'” the Cowboys coach said. “And so, you know, after just talking it over with Stephen and Jerry, like, OK, while we figure this out and you guys go through the interview process, which there’s a thorough interview process you have to go through. We had made an agreement that I would stay here no matter what. And I didn’t want to leave. … I really wanted to be the head coach and put our fingerprint, our blueprint on it. And that’s what God had planned.”

Von Miller now regrets choosing Commanders over Seahawks | Pro Football Talk

In November 2025, Von Miller said he didn’t regret choosing the Commanders over the Seahawks. He declared at the time he’d make the same decision “10 times out of 10.”

He probably wouldn’t make it 11 times out of 11.

Appearing on the 89 podcast with Steve Smith and James Palmer, via Jacob Camenker of USA Today, Miller said of his decision: “Obviously, I picked the wrong team on that one.”

10 Biggest Chiefs Questions: Can the offense build an elite run game?

Teams have dared the Chiefs to run the ball over the last three seasons with light boxes. In theory, with fewer bodies in the box, there should be more room for explosive runs, but the Chiefs’ running backs have been incapable of using that space.

Because the backs couldn’t take what was given to them, it made every other aspect of their offense more difficult. The organization had had enough of that problem this offseason.
