Chiefs rookie Mansoor Delane says his injured shoulder is getting better every day

Chiefs rookie cornerback Mansoor Delane wore a yellow non-contact jersey at his first training camp practice as a result of the shoulder injury he suffered during the offseason. But he says he'll be fully cleared "some time soon, for sure."

"It's good, just getting better every day. Biggest thing right now is just getting my feet under me, acclimating to the conditioning," Delane said.

Delane spent time studying the playbook and doing the conditioning he can while his shoulder healed. He acknowledged that the shoulder injury was a result of going too hard during Organized Team Activities but said he understands that in training camp he needs to dial it down, and save the big hits for the regular season.

"That's something that's going to be hard for me to turn down, my aggression, but you've got to be smart. In the NFL, you've got to protect your teammates. That's the most important thing," Delane said.

The Chiefs traded up to the sixth overall pick to draft Delane because they think he's going to dial it up in a big way when the season starts.
