Cooper Kupp, Patrick O'Connell make big plays at training camp Day 2

The Seattle Seahawks hosted their second practice of training camp on Thursday. Wide receiver Cooper Kupp and linebacker Patrick O'Connell made the standout plays at the session, per various reporters in attendance. It's fun to see veterans on the opposite end of the roster spectrum steal the spotlight early.

Kupp got behind starting cornerback Josh Jobe on the biggest play at practice. The veteran wideout then made a diving one-handed grab down the sideline. The Seahawks posted the footage of Kupp's big catch from Sam Darnold.

Kupp is expected to play the veteran receiver role in the offense for a second consecutive season. He'll support Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Rashid Shaheed at receiver. Kupp may be slightly past his prime, but as proven by that rep at camp, he's still capable of making big-time plays.

And then it was O'Connell who made the biggest play of practice on defense. During a drill that pitted the 1st-team offense against the 2nd-team defense, O'Connell tipped practice in his unit's favor by intercepting Darnold across the middle, per Gregg Bell.

O'Connell was among the Seahawks' core special teamers last season. The former Montana standout is at camp competing for his 53-man roster spot. Making big plays like intercepting Darnold will help increase his chances.
