Darius Slay ranks NFL’s best CBs (see where Pat Surtain lands)

Former NFL cornerback Darius Slay recently served as a guest analyst on ESPN and gave his list of the five best cornerbacks in the NFL. Not surprisingly, Slay ranked Denver Broncos star defensive back Patrick Surtain as his best cornerback in the NFL. Slay ranked Derek Stingley Jr. and Christian Gonzalez as his second- and third-best corners.

Slay has plenty of reasons to select Surtain as his top cornerback. Outside of Surtain being a four-time Pro Bowler, he has also made three NFL All-Pro teams and won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year (in 2024). And while he doesn't have gaudy interception numbers (one interception in 2025), PS2 has earned the title of premier lockdown corner.

With 2026 NFL training camp around the corner, Surtain will help lead a defense looking to remain at the top of the league after they ranked second in yards allowed and third in points allowed last season.
