Details of why LeBron James signed free agent deal with Sixers emerged
The Philadelphia 76ers were able to land the biggest name in free agency by bringing in LeBron James to a 2-year $8 million deal. The Sixers will now feature a starting lineup of James, Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, Joel Embiid, and Jaylen Brown. This is one of the best lineups in the history of the game in terms of talent.
As the Sixers now move forward, one has to wonder how this came about. James could have ended his brilliant career with the hometown Cleveland Cavaliers or with the Miami Heat, where he played from 2010-2014, and finished business there. Or, he could have played with buddy Stephen Curry with the Golden State Warriors.
Instead, James is joining the Sixers in a town where the fans are relentless and they expect a championship--something the Sixers haven't accomplished since 1983. If James were to bring a title to Philadelphia, he would be idolized. If he doesn't? There will be disappointment in a number of ways.
Per ESPN, James believes the Sixers are his best shot to win one last title:
A source familiar with James' thinking told ESPN that James' choice hinged on the pursuit of a fifth championship. After weighing his options, he landed on Philadelphia as the best situation for that.
Also, Embiid was a key part in having James join the Sixers.
Per league sources, Joel Embiid was a heavy figure in LeBron's recruitment, and that recruitment lasted throughout the process

Either way, as the Sixers look to move forward, James will have a lot to accomplish in Philadelphia and help the team reach the mountaintop. As Philadelphia moves into this next phase of its chase for a title, it helps to have a guy like James around to help it materialize.
