Detroit Lions place trio on PUP list ahead of 2026 training camp

The Detroit Lions declared a trio of players as physically unable to perform.

Ahead of its 2026 training camp, the Lions added safeties Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph and tight end Tyler Conklin to the PUP list.

The news comes one day after Joseph suggested he would avoid the PUP list. On Saturday, Joseph responded to Jimmy Liao's post that included Joseph among a group of Lions that might begin training camp on the PUP list.

"How much yall wanna bet im not on there," Joseph wrote on X on Saturday.

The Lions have declared the following players Physically Unable to Perform:

Brian Branch
Tyler Conklin
Kerby Joseph

Branch's status on the PUP list was expected. Branch suffered a torn Achilles in December of 2025 and Lions head coach Dan Campbell said during OTAs in June that Detroit won't rush Branch back.

"I guess there's always a chance. I'm going to just go ahead and widen the window so we don't have to talk about it anymore. Let's just go ahead and say December. Anything before that is a bonus," Campbell said of Branch in June.

Players on the PUP list can participate in all team activities except practice. They can be activated at any point during camp once they are medically cleared. A player can't be placed on the PUP list after they have practiced or played in a preseason game.

Players on the active/PUP list can be moved to the reserve/PUP list during the preseason roster cutdown period. Players won't count against the active roster limit if they're placed on the reserve/PUP list and they must miss the first four games of the season.
