There are few achievements in tennis greater than winning Wimbledon at the age of 21. Linda Nosková is now living that dream as she settles into life as a Grand Slam champion. The World No. 7 lifted the elusive Venus Rosewater Dish last Saturday, with her family and friends, including her father, by her side to witness the milestone.

She also paid tribute to her late mother during an emotional victory speech that left much of Center Court in tears.

Linda Nosková Opens Up About Her Loved Ones’ Reactions to Her Wimbledon Triumph

Nosková staged a remarkable run to the title at SW19, beating Ella Seidel, Camila Osorio, Sorana Cîrstea, Madison Keys, Elise Mertens, Marta Kostyuk, and Karolína Muchová. This was her third career title, having won her first in Monterrey a couple of years ago and her second in Berlin just weeks before her win at Wimbledon.

While speaking to CNN Prima News, Nosková credited her parents with sparking her interest in tennis. “Early in my tennis career, I saw my parents playing tennis and wanted to emulate them. That was the key. They never played the sport professionally, but they always supported me, and without them I would never be here,” she said.

The Czech player’s mother, Ivana, passed away in July 2024 after a battle with cancer. One of her biggest dreams was to watch her daughter play at Wimbledon. When asked how her mother would’ve reacted to her triumph, Nosková said, “Mom probably wouldn’t have said much after the win because she wouldn’t stop crying.”

Her father, Drahoš, made sure to be by her side to witness the triumph firsthand. His reaction, filled with pride and happiness, went viral as many resonated with the emotions parents experience while watching their children succeed.

Nosková celebrated the victory with her loved ones in the stands, who were overcome with emotion as they hugged and shed tears of joy. She, however, soon had to part ways with her loved ones as work commitments called and media duties awaited her.

“Dad and I didn’t talk much either. After hugging each other right on the court, I didn’t see him until a few hours later, when I had time to breathe.”

“Everyone was in tears; not many words were needed. It’s something we worked hard for as a family. It was our dream,” she said.

The following day, Linda Nosková and her team and family attended the champions’ dinner. She also received a hero’s welcome upon returning to her country after her historic triumph. The Czech star will now take some time to rest and recover before returning to action during the North American hardcourt swing.
