The Boston Celtics only got a brief look at Charles Bassey last season.

They'll only get to watch him from afar in the 2026-27 NBA season, because he's signed with the Golden State Warriors.

The transaction was shown as official in the NBA's transaction log on Friday.

Bassey is a 6-foot-10 center who was a top-10 recruit in the Class of 2018, made the unprecedented choice to go to Western Kentucky, then was a second-round pick into the NBA in 2021.

He has since played for the 76ers, Spurs, Grizzlies, Celtics and Warriors.

Bassey joined the Celtics on a 10-day contract in March of 2026 and played five games with Boston, signing a second 10-day contract along the way.

In those five games, Bassey played just 3.4 minutes per contest. He did shoot 85.7% from the floor in the immensely small sample size -- 6-for-7 from the field.

He put up 2.8 points and 1.2 rebounds per game in the limited Celtics stint.

Bassey ended the year with the Warriors after his second Celtics 10-day contract expired, with him then signing a 10-day deal with the Warriors.

In five games with Golden State, Bassey played 20.0 minutes per game and averaged 10.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.

While just a small sample, that was the best production Bassey has displayed in the NBA. It's likely what helped convince Golden State to keep him this offseason.

Boston is doing just fine at center, with Mitchell Robinson and Neemias Queta leading the way inside.

If Bassey breaks out in the Bay Area, it's not something the Celtics will regret too much -- but they did get a look at him before letting him go.
