Ex-Utah State star commits to UC Bearcats after eligibility ruling
Guard MJ Collins, who averaged 17.5 points per game during the 2025-26 season at Utah State, announced his commitment via Instagram to the University of Cincinnati Bearcats men's basketball team after a Hamilton County judge issued a ruling July 9 that allows Collins and dozens of other Division I college athletes to gain an additional year of eligibility.
Collins and Kolby King both played for new UC head coach Jerrod Calhoun at Utah State last season.
Collins played two seasons at Virginia Tech, one season at Vanderbilt and one season at Utah State.
King played one season at St. John's, one season at Tulane, one season at Butler and one season at Utah State.
Collins and King had been listed in court documents as wanting to play for UC if eligible.
