Falcons Recap: Tom Brady's admission, ESPN praises Terrell brothers
The 2026 NFL offseason has slowed to a crawl now that the players have gone on break for the summer. For a team like the Atlanta Falcons, training camp can't come soon enough. With a new head coach, a new offensive coordinator and possibly a new starting quarterback, it makes every rep that much more important.
While American football won't really get going until August, the rest of the country has been glued to the World Cup. On Tuesday, Argentina overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat Egypt 3-2 in one of the wildest endings we've ever seen.
In today's Falcons Wire Recap, Tom Brady declares Argentina's win a bigger upset than his infamous 28-3 comeback against Atlanta, ESPN shouts out both of the Terrell brothers, CBS Sports praises Bijan Robinson, and we spotlight rookie Zachariah Branch.
Tom Brady says World Cup win 'might top' 28-3 comeback
It didn't take long before Tuesday's World Cup finish started drawing comparisons to another infamous comeback. The New England Patriots' Super Bowl victory over the Falcons is widely considered the greatest comeback in sports history. Tom Brady led the Patriots back from a 28-3 third-quarter deficit to secure a 34-28 overtime win.
After Argentina defeated Egypt, Brady hopped on social media to declare the World Cup showdown as the new greatest comeback ever. "Yeah, so that might top 28-3," Brady posted following Tuesday's World Cup match.

Drake London ranked 19th-best player under 25
CBS Sports' Tyler Sullivan ranked the NFL's top 25 players under the age of 25, and two Falcons made the cut. Drake London landed at No. 19 on CBS Sports' list.
"While London doesn't exactly get the same shine as some other elite receivers, he's every bit as talented," wrote Sullivan. "Even with this monster extension, one could make the case that he's still underrated in league circles. London is one of just five players with at least 2,000 receiving yards and 15-plus receiving touchdowns since 2024. He's done that despite lackluster quarterback play throughout his career."
Bijan Robinson ranked NFL's best player under age 25
Robinson outdid his Falcons teammate on CBS Sports' top 25 under 25, landing at the No. 1 spot in the entire NFL. That's pretty high praise for the former Texas Longhorns star.
"He's arguably the best dual-threat running back in the league and has put together a start to his career unlike anything we've seen before," argued Sullivan. "As we noted with his teammate Drake London, Robinson has posted those numbers despite subpar quarterback play for much of his career, making them even more mesmerizing. When the Falcons give him the ball, Robinson is liable to make a house call at any moment and is one of the game's true lightning rods. And he's just entering his prime."
A.J. Terrell gets honorable mention in ESPN exec rankings
Falcons cornerback A.J. Terrell did not make the cut in ESPN's annual ranking of the top 10 cornerbacks in the league, according to a poll of anonymous NFL executives. The former first-round pick was listed among the honorable mentions, though.
"He's been really good for a long time. He just can't get the ball [with six interceptions in six NFL seasons]," one NFL exec told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. READ FULL STORY
Avieon Terrell named Falcons' X-factor for 2026
ESPN also gave some love to Terrell's little brother, Avieon, in a new feature ranking all 32 NFL rosters. The younger Terrell brother was listed as the Falcons' x-factor for the 2026 season.
"Last season, Mike Hughes allowed 1.5 yards per coverage snap, much higher than average for an outside cornerback. Could Terrell, who was the Falcons' first selection in this year's draft at No. 48, end up being a better solution at outside corner opposite his brother A.J. Terrell Jr.? If so, that would be a good sign for Atlanta's secondary," wrote ESPN's Seth Walder.
Falcons training camp spotlight: Zachariah Branch
Falcons rookie wide receiver Zachariah Branch's elusive skill set fits what Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski and OC Tommy Rees like to do on offense. Look for Branch to be heavily involved on screen passes this season, whether he starts or not.
The former Bulldog can contribute right away, even if he begins his NFL career with the Falcons in the slot. We think he can eventually take over that No. 2 role in Atlanta, and don't be surprised if it happens sooner rather than later. Branch showed off impressive breakaway speed at minicamp (see below).
