FBI declares major World Cup security risk for Argentina-England game

Argentina and England is posing a major 2026 World Cup security threat as the two countries battle for a place in the final against Spain.

Lionel Messi and Argentina are aiming to earn a spot in the 2026 World Cup final, just as the nation did four years ago. However, England stands in the South American team’s way as the tournament narrows down to two countries.

The two countries famously engaged in the Falklands War back in 1982, which was centered around islands off the coast of Argentina. However, the FBI and other agencies in America are worried about the two nations’ history.

PFT points out that ticketing measures should keep fans on opposite sides of Mercedes-Benz Stadium. That could be difficult to enforce though with a full crowd expected and many devotes supporters from both countries.

Argentina-England history features major drama

Both countries have boasted tremendous soccer success in their respective histories with many countless superstars. However, England fans are still aggrieved decades later after Diego Maradona’s infamous “Hand of God” moment.

Argentina’s 1986 World Cup match against England saw Maradona knock a goal in with his hand. Meanwhile, that moment led to the South Americans winning the match and going on to win the tournament.

Messi and Argentina are pursuing their second straight World Cup title after winning in Qatar four years ago. However, many soccer fans are rooting against the legendary star due to several questionable calls in the United States.

England hasn’t appeared in a World Cup final since 1966 when the Three Lions won their only major title. Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane and Co. could end that spell this summer with two more victories.
