MD reports that there is “good harmony” between the Qatari-owned Parisians and Ferran, who is open to a change of airs.
Ferran has a contract until mid-2027, which means that PSG can be smart and push Barça into accepting a cut fee for a player it could lose for free in under 12 months’ time.
It would effectively be a taste of their own medicine, as the Catalans are currently closing in on Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi.
When all is said and done, he should become a new FC Barcelona player for €22 million plus €7 million, which is a bargain when considering the sums that the Germans receive for their young stars.
As for Ferran, Barça paid Manchester City €55 million for his services in December 2021. Sporting Director Deco and Co would do well to recover all of that for the three-time La Liga winner.
Asked about possibly joining PSG or renewing his contract before Spain’s World Cup debut against Cabo Verde, Ferran said: “I don’t know, nor do I care. The important thing is to get the three points. The external is not important now.”
Ferran could have tired of the atmosphere behind the scenes at FC Barcelona
Never a first choice under Hansi Flick, Ferran has effectively been passed over in the post-Robert Lewandowski era.
Already phasing the Pole out in the 2025/2026 season, Ferran should ideally inherit his number 9 shirt after Lewandowski left on June 30 and joined the Chicago Fire.
Instead, however, Ferran has seen Barça openly pursue Julian Alvarez, who has reportedly agreed to join the Spanish champions from Atletico Madrid on a five-year deal.
Furthermore, Ferran now has increased competition on the wings because of the arrival of Anthony Gordon with Adeyemi possibly set to follow.
At PSG, though, he is already familiar with his former Spain boss - and ex-father-in-law - Luis Enrique while there are other Spain teammates in the fold such as Fabian Ruiz.
With Goncalo Ramos joining AC Milan, there is a vacant striker’s spot with Luis Enrique possibly convincing Ferran to follow Dro Fernandez’s lead and swap FC Barcelona for PSG.
