Fifth Iowa women's basketball player entering transfer portal

Per On3's Talia Goodman, sophomore Emely Rodriguez is entering the transfer portal.

Rodriguez marks the fifth Iowa women's basketball player to head into the transfer portal. A 6-foot wing out of the Dominican Republic, Rodriguez transferred into Iowa City from UCF with a lot of hype. Rodriguez had been named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team at UCF.

In limited action to begin this past season, there were flashes of what Rodriguez could provide the Hawkeyes. But, a back injury and a reported suspension limited Rodriguez to just six games played. Rodriguez averaged 7.2 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game on 42.5% field goal shooting, 14.3% 3-point shooting and 80% free-throw shooting in her six games with the Hawkeyes.

Rodriguez last played for Iowa on Nov. 22, 2025, in a 64-61 Hawkeyes win over Miami in the WBCA Showcase.

Rodriguez joins Addie Deal, Teagan Mallegni, Kennise Johnson and Callie Levin among Iowa's transfer portal departures.
