Florentino Perez open to signing World Cup winner for Real Madrid – report

Rodri’s phenomenal World Cup campaign roused the interest of Real Madrid once more, and understandably so given how he has the exact profile they are chasing.

While all signs seemingly pointed to the interest materialising into a real move, Florentino Perez was dead against signing the Manchester City star.

The club president’s reasons for resisting Rodri’s arrival remain unknown but are thought to be related to the player’s age, recent injury and affiliation with Enrique Riquelme’s campaign.

A change of stance

In a breaking report furthered by Ramon Alvarez de Mon, Real Madrid have changed their mind and are now going all in for Rodri’s signing.

The club have cleared their doubts on the player and will thus try to sign him this summer. Rodri will also do his part to ensure the deal progresses, for he is crazy about joining Real Madrid.

Florentino Perez has changed his mind on the star midfielder, as reported by Matteo Moretto, and is now open to welcoming the player to the Spanish capital. Internal talks from the board likely convinced the president to change his mind.

Very close to materialising

If the widespread reports are to be believed, Real Madrid are not only surely going after the player now but are even very close to reaching an agreement.

A personal agreement between Rodri and Real Madrid will not be a problem for the player, who also dreams of the move equally. Talks are said to be in very advanced stages.

An agreement with Manchester City, however, remains to be negotiated for the two clubs have not sat down to discuss the move yet. 

Once the agreement with Rodri is complete, Los Blancos will sit down with the Premier League side to find middle ground, although they have their limits and will only proceed if they deem the fee fair.

The coming days will be crucial in seeing the deal get across the line, but with all parties favourably placed, it could well be finalised in a very short time.

Needless to say, it would be massive for Jose Mourinho’s plans to have the World Cup winner in midfield.
