Aubrey Rogers is taking her talents from one iconic professional sports organization to another. Rogers, who previously cheered for the Los Angeles Lakers, was named to the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders’ 2026-27 roster as one of eight rookies.

The Santa Clarita, California, native celebrated her selection with a short reaction that captured the excitement of the moment.

“Is this REAL LIFE?!” Rogers wrote on her Instagram Stories.

It is now.

Rogers will trade the NBA hardwood and the Lakers’ purple and gold for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders’ famous blue-and-white uniform. Her professional experience gives her one of the most intriguing backgrounds in the new rookie class.

Performing for an NBA franchise should have prepared Rogers for many aspects of her new role. She already understands how to entertain a large crowd, represent a major organization and perform in an environment where every movement can be watched by thousands of people.

Earning a spot with Dallas, however, still required her to conquer an entirely new challenge.

Aubrey Rogers brings NBA experience to the NFL

Netflix’s “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” has given fans an up-close look at how unforgiving the DCC selection process can be. Previous experience does not guarantee a roster spot. Candidates must learn the organization’s specific choreography, handle repeated evaluations and prove they can meet the expectations that come with representing the Cowboys.

Rogers successfully made that transition.

She will join a rookie class that brings together performers from several different backgrounds. Haley Bogdon is a registered nurse and former Arkansas dancer. Lexi Smith cheered at UCF, while Amiyah Naulls performed on the Cal State Fullerton dance team. The class also includes four returning candidates who were cut during previous attempts.

Rogers is the only newcomer making a direct move from an NBA team to the Cowboys, giving fans another reason to watch her during the upcoming season. The Cowboys cheerleaders have gained an even larger national following since “America’s Sweethearts” debuted in 2024. Netflix has not confirmed whether the series will return for a fourth season, but Rogers would be a natural candidate to receive attention if cameras return.
