Four Nebraska basketball players participating in NBA Summer League
The 2026 NBA Summer League is set to begin in Las Vegas on Thursday. For the second straight summer, four former Huskers will participate in the league, with two making their professional debuts.
Rienk Mast (Indiana Pacers) and Sam Hoiberg (Phoenix Suns) will each make their debut after strong final seasons at Nebraska. Josiah Allick (Charlotte Hornets) is also making his Summer League debut after spending time in affiliate leagues. Brice Williams (Detroit Pistons) will also be returning to action in the Summer League
Hoiberg joined the Suns following a five-year career that ended with him becoming one of the best players in the Big Ten. Hoiberg set career highs in points per game (9.3), shooting percentage (54%), rebounds per game (5.3), assists per game (4.5), and steals per game (2.0). He also set the school record for assist-to-turnover ratio (3.75-to-1) and ranked ninth nationally. Hoiberg also cracked Nebraska's single-season top 10 lists in both steals (70, sixth) and assists (157, seventh). His play earned him honorable mention All-Big Ten honors and a spot on the Big Ten All-Defensive Team.
Mast will play with the Pacers following a decorated Husker career. The two-time All-Big Ten honoree averaged 13.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game in his final season and even secured three double-doubles and a triple-double. He scored in double digits in 24 games his senior season and 20 or more in five games.
Allick played for the Huskers in 2023-24, helping the team to its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2014. He will play for the Hornets in the Summer League for the first time, following his time in New Zealand last summer. Allick recently played for the Greensboro Swarm, guiding them to an NBA G League title last season. He played 28 games for the Swarm and averaged 6.6 points per game on 68 percent shooting, 5.7 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game. For Nebraska, Allick averaged 7.3 points per game on 55 percent shooting and 5.4 rebounds per game.
Williams returns to the Pistons after playing for them in the 2025 Summer League. He spent the 2025-26 season with the Motor City Cruise, the NBA G League affiliate of the Pistons. Williams stood out in his rookie season, averaging 14.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 46 percent from the field, including 42.4 percent from 3-point range.
He got picked up by the Pistons last year following a stellar senior season at Nebraska. Williams averaged 20.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game for the Huskers, leading them to the first-ever College Basketball Crown championship. The first-team All-Big Ten and all-district honoree also scored 30 points in four games and a school-record 43-point performance. He finished the season with 713 points, breaking the program's single-season scoring mark.
Each team will play at least five games for the Summer League, including four preliminary contests from July 9-16. The semifinals are set for July 18 on Prime Video, and the championship game will air July 19 on ESPN. Teams that do not advance to the semifinals will play a fifth game between July 17 and 19.
