From IMSA to IndyCar, must-see racing in Wisconsin in August 2026

August starts strong and ends strong for auto racing in Wisconsin, and it’s also the month of “-est.”

The first weekend includes the richest race in the state, with Outlaws late models in New Richmond, and the longest, the new six-hour IMSA endurance race at Road America.

Also near the front end of the month, the ASA Midwest Tour runs the longest super late model event in the state at Wisconsin International Raceway.

Then a pair of IndyCar races await at the country’s oldest continuously operating racetrack, the Milwaukee Mile.

Below is a list of major auto racing events around Wisconsin in August, weighted toward the Milwaukee area. (The farther away an event is, the bigger it has to be to crack the list. Factors considered include history, prestige, scope and purse.)

Aug. 28: ARCA Menards Series, Madison International Speedway, Town of Rutland (2025 winner: Max Reaves)

Aug. 28-30: IndyCar  Snap-on Makers and Fixers 250 (Saturday) and Snap-on Milwaukee Mile 250 (Sunday), Milwaukee Mile (2025 single race winner: Christian Rasmussen)

Aug. 31:USAC Midgets, Firemen’s Nationals, Angell Park Speedway, Sun Prairie (2025 winner: Gavin Miller)
