Isaiah Sategna reveals the changes fueling his next step at Oklahoma

Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver Isaiah Sategna was arguably the most valuable player on the offense last season. Whenever Oklahoma needed a game-changing play, Sategna routinely answered the call.

He finished the season with 67 catches, for 965 yards and eight scores. His elite speed made him one of the SEC's most dangerous deep threats, often turning routine catches into explosive gains. Sategna recorded four 100-yard performances, including a combined 12 receptions for 230 yards against the Missouri Tigers and LSU Tigers as Oklahoma secured its College Football Playoff berth.

Despite his breakout season, Sategna believes there is still room to grow. At times, he relied heavily on explosive plays rather than consistently impacting games underneath and in the intermediate passing game. That inconsistency showed up at times, as he was held to fewer than 30 receiving yards three times, including Oklahoma's College Football Playoff loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide, when he caught two passes for 17 yards and a touchdown.

After deciding to return for another season, Sategna revealed the biggest areas of emphasis in his offseason training.

"The first thing I've been working on this offseason is just my strength," Sategna said. "Keeping my speed obviously, but strength is a big thing that I've been working on. I would say my route detail and just my route running. Just polishing it up."

If Sategna can pair his elite speed with improved strength and more refined route running, he could elevate his game to another level in 2026. Becoming a more complete receiver would not only increase his NFL draft stock but also give Oklahoma an even more reliable target as it looks to build on last season's College Football Playoff appearance.
