Jalen Brunson didn’t want to sign Giants helmet: ‘Against my religion’
Jalen Brunson is a hardcore Eagles fan and has his standards.
When a Giants fan at Fanatics Fest asked the Knicks star to sign a Giants helmet, he initially refused.
“Wait, wait, wait, wait, I am not signing that, it’s against my religion,” he said. “You’re gonna make me sign a Giants helmet?”
He added: ‘Can I write, ‘Go Birds’ on it. I’m gonna write ‘Go Birds’ on it."
Brunson, the NBA Finals MVP, was born in New Brunswick, N.J., but has long identified more with South Jersey and the Eagles.
Still, he’s also a Mets fan but did throw out the first pitch at a Yankees game with teammate Josh Hart (a Yankees fan) after the Knicks won their first NBA championship in 53 years.
Brunson was also in attendance wearing a Yankees jersey and custom hat with “Knicks in 5″ on the side for Friday night’s game with the L.A. Dodgers at Yankee Stadium.
