Jason McIntyre slams Bo Nix's throws over the middle: 'He's terrible'

It seems that the Bo Nix discourse won't end anytime soon.

Earlier this offseason, Pro Football Focus ranked Nix 19th out of 32 projected starting quarterbacks, and CBS Sports recently listed Nix among the NFL's most overrated quarterbacks.

Jason McIntyre of Fox Sports has now chimed in with his own take on Nix.

"He doesn't throw over the middle — he doesn't want to — and he can't, and he's terrible when he does," McIntyre said while hosting The Herd last Thursday. "It's staggering."

McIntyre also pointed out that Nix ranked 24th in completion percentage (36.7%) and 21st in passer rating (79.8) on passes of 15+ air yards last season. Nix also threw six interceptions on deep throws, tied for the second-most in the league.

"Why doesn't Bo Nix throw to the middle?" McIntyre asked. "Why can't he throw deep?"

McIntyre then floated the theory that perhaps coach Sean Payton handed over play-calling duties to Davis Webb because he's frustrated with Nix. That notion seems a bit far-fetched, but Nix's need to be more accurate over the middle and on deep throws is a more warranted conversation.

And while Nix has his weaknesses, among qualified QBs, he did rank first in sack percentage (3.47%), second-best in sacks taken (22), 12th in interception rate (1.8%) and first in game-winning drives (seven) last fall. The Denver Broncos have demonstrated that they can win with Nix, going 14-3 in 2025, but the 26-year-old QB certainly has room for improvement going into his third season.
