John Glenn stuns Sheridan softball in 7th, April 6 top performers

THORNVILLE — Down to its last strike, John Glenn fans were headed to the exits.

Then, the Kendall Snider and Co. gave them a reason to stop in their tracks.

Trailing 2-1 with two outs in the top of the seventh, Snider's single tied the game. It triggered a run of four straight hits that netted two more runs and a 4-2 win against host Sheridan in a key Muskingum Valley League-Big School win.

Snider was on the wrong end of a pitcher's duel with Megan Ranck for 6 2/3 innings, but she wound up with the win after striking out 12 in a complete game. Ranck took a shutout into the seventh and struck out eight.

Addison Babcock tripled and singled twice and Estelle Matheney doubled for John Glenn (8-0); Lakelyn Haas had two singles for Sheridan (4-1).

New Lexington 7, Crooksville 4: Jorja Burkhart clubbed a two-run double in the sixth inning among her three hits, as the Panthers topped their Perry County rivals in an MVL-Small School game at home.

Burkhart, who also singled twice, scored three times out o the leadoff hole. Mia Metzger added two singles and three RBIs and Corrine Thompson two singles; Metzger also pitched a complete game to get the win.

Paige Frame doubled and singled and Elyse Baker doubled home two runs for Crooksville. Cam DeLong also doubled.

Morgan 14, River View 12: Allia Rush belted homers in the fourth and sixth innings and the Raiders piled up 21 hits in a high-scoring win in an MVL-Big School game in Warsaw.

Rush, who drove in five, also had three singles and scored four times as seven Raiders had multiple hits in building a 12-6 lead through five innings. Campbell Welsh had a triple and two singles and Kaydence Maxwell a double and single with two RBIs.

Joann Thompson and Aurora Yoder drove in three runs with two double and a single and Haylee Hall doubled twice with two RBIs for River View, which had 14 hits.

Meadowbrook 15, Maysville 4 (5 inn.): McKendall Boyer drove in four runs with a three-run double and RBI single to pace the Colts in an MVL-Small School win in Newton Township.

Addy Randles' double and single netted four RBIs and the Colts also drew 13 walks. They scored eight times in the fifth as Addy Sichina allowed five hits to get the win.

Lily Tumblin socked a homer for Maysville; Evee Matthews and Kaelynne Mitton doubled.

Tri-Valley 6, Philo 4: Ava Neal clubbed a two-run homer and scored a key insurance run in the fifth inning as the Scotties picked up an MVL-Big School win at Kenny Wolford Park.

Gabby Prati hit a solo homer homered and singled in Neal; Alivia Reffitt and Gerran Matthews added three singles. Gracie Hutton allowed two earned runs in a complete game to get the win.

Lexi Charles slugged a homer and Cassidy Himes had two singles for Philo; Autumn Hartman and Dilyn Brown added doubles. Charles pitched 2 1/3 innings of one-run relief.

Garaway 12, Ridgewood 1: Audrey Miller fired a one-hitter with seven strikeouts to back 14 hits in the visiting Pirates' convincing Inter-Valley Conference-South Division win against the previously unbeaten Generals.

Krista Miller's double and three singles led Garaway; Audrey Miller drove in three runs with two doubles and a single and True Tango plated three with two doubles and a single. Garaway led 7-0 after two innings.

Addison Lahmers' single accounted for the only Ridgewood offense. Lahmers allowed six earned runs in four innings to take the loss.

West M 11, Coshocton 2: Fraylee Williams tossed a two-hitter and the Tornadoes had seven extra-base hits in an MVL-Small School win Falls Township.

Katelyn Stewart and Peyton Brown launched home runs and Callie Smith had two doubles with a single for West, which scored 12 unanswered runs, including five times in the sixth. Kyana Bowers had three singles.

Jaelyn Allen's double and single accounted for all of the Coshocton offense.

Baseball

Sheridan 13, John Glenn 5: Noah Wamer fired five innings of two-hit relief for the Generals, who overcame five errors by scoring five times in the fourth inning in an MVL-Big School win at home.

Wamer struck out eight and didn't yield an earned run after the Muskies scored four times in the first two innings. to build a 4-0 lead.

Tandon Gramlich led eight Generals who had hits with a double and single and two RBIs. James Solomon and Connor Roshon added RBI doubles.

Zach Townsend drove in two runs with two singles and Keegan Wolford had two singles and scored three times for John Glenn. Carter Merry took the loss.

Garaway 2, Ridgewood 1: The Generals held a 6-4 edge in hits behind three singles from Jackson Cabot, but the Pirates held on for a close IVC-South win in West Lafayette.

Ridgewood scored its lone run in the sixth. It had runners on second and third with one out in the seventh, but consecutive strikeouts looking ended the game.

Maison Kaiser pitched six four-hit innings in a losing cause. He struck out four and walked four.

River View 4, Morgan 3: Maquire Werentz struck out 11 in a complete game for the Black Bears, who took the lead for good in the sixth inning of an MVL-Big School game in Warsaw.

Werentz allowed four hits and walked three. Reid Johnson had two singles and scored twice to lead the offense, including the go-ahead run in the sixth on Werentz's single to center field.

Casen Foley's double and single led Morgan.

Philo 6, Tri-Valley 2: Cooper Roush had three singles and K.J. Philip drove in three runs with a double and single for the Electrics in an MVL-Big School win in Duncan Falls.

Wyatt Tysinger walked two and struck out six in a complete game as Philo held an 11-7 edge in hits to overcome a 2-0 deficit through two innings.

Ryan Lamonica doubled and singled and Isaiah Cullins had two singles for Tri-Valley. Karter Merryman pitched four innings to take the loss.

Watkins Memorial 11, Zanesville 1 (5 inn.): The Warriors scored seven times in the fourth inning to break open a 4-1 game in a Licking County League-Buckeye Division game in Pataskala.

Caleb Hollins clubbed a solo homer in the second inning to get Zanesville within 2-1, but the Warriors answered with two runs in the third and pulled away.

Kayson Hoff took the loss.

West M 17, Coshocton 7 (5 inn.): The Tornadoes trailed 4-0 in the third, only to score 17 times in their last three at-bats behind five RBIs from Silas Kuhn in in an MVL-Small School win in Falls Township.

Kuhn's three-run triple in the fourth extended an 11-7 lead to 14-7. He also had three singles, while Preston Farrell cleared the bases with a double and Braxton Brownrigg had two singles. Ashton Ansel went the distance to get the win.

Connor Shaw had two singles and Champ Haley and Dylan Wood doubled for Coshocton. Wood, who pitched into the fourth, took the loss.

Rosecrans 13, Cols. Wellington 3 (5 inn.): Coen Grandstaff pitched a complete game, Nick Bernath had three singles and the Bishops drew seven walks in a Mid-State League-Cardinal Division mercy at Gant Municipal Stadium.

Rosecrans also stole 14 bases and were hit by four pitches, as it sored five times in the fifth to seal the mercy. Thad Mumford had two singles, including one that sent home two runs, as seven Bishops had hits.

New Lexington 5, Crooksville 3: Dalton Waite yielded no earned runs in five innings for the Panthers in an MVL-Small School win on their home field.

Five players had singles for New Lexington, which stole seven bases and took advantage of four Ceramic errors to build a 5-1 lead through five innings.

Brody Cottrell struck out eight and yielded no earned runs in six innings for Crooksville. He also drove in a run with a single.

Meadowbrook 4, Maysville 2: Walker Archer's double paced the visiting Panthers, who committed four errors in an MVL-Small School loss in Byesville.

Only two of the Colts' runs were earned. Steven Beach, who had two singles, was the only player in the game with multiple hits.

Starter Tre Butcher struck out four in two innings for Maysville, which allowed only four hits.
