Kentucky baseball adds home state pitcher from transfer portal

Kentucky Wildcats baseball coach Nick Mingione is looking to finalize the team's 2027 roster, and has added a talented group of transfers to go along with some returning stars. On Sunday, they got a commitment from a pitcher from the Bluegrass State.

Dylan McIntyre was a star for Ryle High School in Kentucky before heading to San Jacinto Community College after not being heavily recruited by major programs. Now, Batcatscentral reports he's coming back home.

Just being a hometown kid, rooting for Kentucky my whole life, I feel like that's exactly where I want it to be.

A 6'1" right-handed pitcher, McIntyre took the mound in 11 games as a freshman. He finished with a 4.20 ERA and 47 strikeouts to 23 walks. That came after dominating in high school where he registered a 0.62 ERA as a senior.

McIntyre has starting experience, but will likely come out of the bullpen for Kentucky in 2027. He could join the rotation, though, if there are injuries or if he just performs at a level that pushes him there. He will have four years of eligibility remaining.
