Kentucky Basketball offers JJ Crawford, the son of Jamal Crawford
The Kentucky Wildcats coaching staff has been dialed in on the recruiting trail ever since the 2025-26 season came to a close. The staff has now offered its first player in the class of 2029.
Kentucky has officially offered JJ Crawford, son of Jamal Crawford, a longtime NBA great. The 6-foot-3 combo guard from Seattle, Washington, is the first player in 2029 to receive an offer from the Wildcats. He announced the news on Friday through Instagram.
Crawford, who plays basketball at Rainer Beach, has been gaining interest on the recruiting trail after a terrific spring playing up on the 16U level with NW Rotary. He was the only freshman in the nation to make Team USA’s FIBA Under-17 team this year. He’s now ranked No. 1 overall in 2029 at ESPN.
Wildcats head coach Mark Pope has a long-time relationship with Jamal, as it was rumored that Pope wanted the basketball great on his coaching staff. Jamal has two years left on his NBC deal as a broadcaster and is an assistant coach at Rainer Beach, where he gets to coach his son, so we may still be a year or two away from Jamal making a move to the college ranks.
In the meantime, check out some highlights of JJ in action!
