After dealing with a right ankle sprain, Sacramento Kings rookie Alex Karaban has been cleared to participate in the NBA Summer League, which tipped off Thursday in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Karaban was diagnosed with a right ankle sprain sustained while attempting to contest a shot during a team practice on July 2. He left the court after the play but walked off unassisted to be examined by the team medical staff.

The 23-year-old was sidelined for the Kings' stint in the California Classic last weekend in Sacramento, but he is available to play in the desert on Thursday against the LA Clippers (11 p.m. EDT, ESPN), according to Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee.

Karaban was the 29th overall pick after averaging 13.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 37.4% from 3-point range as a senior at UConn. He was a first-team All-Big East selection, helping the Huskies to their third national championship game in four years.

A two-time champion, Karaban left the Huskies as the all-time leader in wins (126), starts (150), minutes (4,906) and 3-pointers (292), while he is sixth in scoring (1,880). He became the first active player in program history to be inducted into the Huskies of Honor.

With Karaban expected to suit up, the contest against the Clippers will also see his teammate, Darius Acuff Jr., the seventh pick, face off against No. 5 pick Keaton Wagler.
