Miami Dolphins are bringing the heat this season.

Not only with the temperature at Hard Rock Stadium, or their new draft picks and new starting QB, but with a throwback jersey that evokes memories of better days on the field.

Miami will be bringing the helmeted dolphins back to their helmet designs for Week 14 against the Chicago Bears. Fans online seem to approve the "new look" and want to see it become a permanent fixture for the Dolphins.

The last edition of helmeted Dolphins started in 1990 and ended in 2012, though the design has been part of the Miami threads since 1966.

The newest edition of the Dolphins helmet has their logo of the Dolphin with the sun surrounding it.

Dolphins' helmets through history

  • 1966-70: An aqua and white dolphin wearing a white football helmet with an orange letter "M" and leaping in front of an orange sunburst.
  • 1970-73: Same design as above, just the dolphin is closer to the horizon.
  • 1973-80: This logo pushed the location of the dolphin up enough to place it above the orange sunburst. The dolphin has the same colors and helmet.
  • 1980-90: The dolphin remains the same while the sunburst becomes much smaller.
  • 1990-97: The design concept is the same, but the entire shading is much darker.
  • 1997-2013: An aqua-colored dolphin wearing a white helmet with a orange letter "M" on it leaping in front of a sunburst, but the dolphin itself was given a complete makeover, now with much more prominent features and the addition of navy blue.
  • 2013-current: The new logo features a teal dolphin swimming in front of an orange sunburst. The dolphin has no helmet in the newest edition.
