Music ‘headliner’ and schedule for World Cup closing ceremony announced by FIFA

FIFA continue to add acts to their World Cup closing ceremony in New Jersey on Sunday.

The biggest World Cup in history will be brought to a star-studded ending at the New York New Jersey Stadium (MetLife Stadium).

Not only will there be a controversial Super Bowl-style half-time show during the 23 World Cup final, FIFA are putting on a huge closing ceremony.

Indeed, the World Cup closing ceremony already includes a list of performers such as IShowSpeed, Tom Cruise and Jennifer Hudson.

Now, another huge name has been added to the list.

Post Malone to headline FIFA World Cup closing ceremony

It has now been confirmed that American singer and rapper Post Malone will headline the ceremony, which begins 90 minutes before kick-off on Sunday (6.30pm EDT).

The closing ceremony will celebrate all 48 teams who competed and the journeys they have been on across 16 host cities in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Laura Pausini, Nicole Scherzinger, Robbie Williams are also among those set to feature before Sunday’s huge World Cup final brings the biggest edition in tournament history to a close.

Closing ceremonies have often been part of the sport and while many might roll their eyes at them, it’s not as if this is anything new.

The major issue people have with what’s going to happen at the World Cup final is the half-time show.

FIFA are set to break one of the sport’s long-standing rules in the process. Half-time is only supposed to last 15 minutes and while there is scope for a referee to add more time at their discretion, FIFA’s planned ceremony could reportedly last between 20 and 30 minutes.
